HISTORY OF THE AMERICAN BULLDOG
This dog is descended from the mastiff-
The American Bulldog is not originally a gladiatordog like Stafford, Argentine dog, Mastino, Cane Corso, Boerboel etc.
The initial task of this race (more than 100 years ago) was to assist farmers with catching unruly cattle, and he acted as a watchdog. He was also used as a hunting dog, particularly pigs, feral dogs and for driving cattle. They ensured that the cattle did not wander and protected them agains wolves. also they protect their bosses against unwanted visitors.
By the end of World War II, however, the breed was almost extinct. But John J. Johnson, a returning war veteran, began the new breed back to life along with several other breeders, including Scott, Painter and Koura. They selected the dogs only on capacity.
Lana Lou Lane and her father also had their own line. Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog they call it . These dogs were important. The color blue brindle and descendants of the Blue Paul, an old fighting dog from England.
Johnson began carefully to breed American Bulldogs with use of other races and rigorous selection so that health and work ability were preserved.
In the 70, John J. Johnson and Alan Scott decided not to associate with each other to breed dogs but both his own path creating two different types of American Bulldogs emerged. (the Johnson / Bully type and the Scott / Standard type)
The Johnson type are excellent watchdogs with very sweet affectionate loyal characters.
Because they become in the past 10 years so big and bulky (to over 68 pounds) they are less suited to work, but he makes it good with his impressive appearance. (The Johnson type resembles an athletic, tightly built, "white" Bull Mastiff.)
The default type, however, is bred to work and is clearly a lot of drive, it is generally a little faster but they are more aggressive, but also the same like the Johnson type, very loyal companions.
They have a clear athletic muscular body (similar to a large, coarse, tall, "white" Pitt Bull.) Are higher on the legs and slender build, (weigh 27 to 40 pounds) as quickly and agile. They also have a longer nose so they have more stamina.
Because they use breeds to cross such mastiff and bull-
John J Johnson made sure that the American Bulldog on January 1, 1999 was recognized by the United Kennel Club under the name "American Pitt Bull dog" but later the name was changed to: "American Bulldog".
The American Pitbull Dog did not fit in the box Pitt Bull
Some fans of dog fighting saw this dog the ultimate fighting dog but was not suitable for it.
The American Bulldog have the natural instinct that every dog against his fellows should possess, namely, not to fight when his opponent surrender, still strongly embedded in his genes to have.
A natural inhibition to possess every dog belongs to a kind of mate.
